The Perfect Medium: Photographs of Philip Toledano

I think I was a bit skeptical when I saw Philp Toledano's video game Portraits years ago, but they've managed to stick with me. They show psychological states the average would never encounter without the help of a simulated environment. If you can divorce the expression from the act of playing a video game, and ask where would this state of mind be found in nature? The face then takes on an eerie quality.... Might we see that expression again?
