* MOE RAW(Nashville Hip Hop Aristocracy, Philosopher, Activator) has been contributing these last few weeks, bringing much needed new material. We hope he'll be a regular around here, till then give him a shout out Jan 24 4th & Union
When is it gonna fuckin' happen? I think the promotion of commercial gangsta (a valid form when approached as an art, not a job) is a reaction against the progress of the Civil Rights Movement. Shit has been predominantly Gangsta for 12 YEARS! Who makes Hip-Hop? Who decides what is promoted and what is not? Why is there only room for two or three artists with feelings or a positive message? Why are the biggest assholes the biggest stars? Why is it every chrome-toothed yokel with a pistol and mic can get a deal (yes, I said pistol first)? When did the Rap Game become the Rap Sheet Game (1991)? Why is there no balance in the presentation of the most visible Black men? Viva Kanye! Viva David Banner! Viva Wise Intelligent! Viva Kool Keith! Viva Count Bass D!! In the words of the GZA (!!), "You need to diversify your bonds, Nigga".-MOE RAW
